Staff and service user development
Staff development
Social and health care legislation has evolved rapidly in recent years. Here at Enable we have risen to the challenge of delivering good quality housing, care and support in this new environment. Above all we focus on valuing people, in line with the government's Valuing People: New strategy for learning disability for the 21st century. »
All our services are designed to be
- person centred, based on what the individual wants or needs
- relevant
- effective, fit for purpose
- efficient, representing good value for money
- grounded in social values which empower, enable and support people with learning difficulties
At Enable, we know these services cannot be delivered without highly trained and motivated staff. Our investment in Learning and Development reflects this commitment. Read more»
Service user development
We recognise that service users, too, can benefit from the experience of learning. Training can help to build confidence and independence, and it may enhance employability. We are working to put people with learning difficulties at the heart of our training culture. This means developing courses and (where appropriate) apprenticeships to meet their needs.
The suitability of a course is assessed against the needs of the individual. If the right course is not available we try to source one to meet those needs. Trainers delivering a course will be required to share our person-centred perspective.
Health and welfare training
We work hard to ensure that every staff member is equipped to deliver the services that our service users and their families and supporters want and deserve. A full programme of Learning and Development activities is arranged each year, including a core of obligatory training for all staff.
