Service User Training Activities
Enable provides lots of training opportunities and daytime activities for adults with learning difficulties.

Track laying on the Peak Rail project

The Peak Rail project is based at Darley Dale. Activities take place on Mondays and Thursdays and can include
- being outdoors in the company of a range of people
- helping to lay railway tracks
- cleaning trains, inside and out
- painting trains
- clearing land so that tracks can be laid
- painting fences
- going to Peak Rail on the bus
- learning about safety.
Workshops at the JT Project
The Farming project takes place at Congreave Farm near Matlock on Wednesdays. Among the activities on offer are
- looking after the animals
- clearing the muck out of the barns after the sheep and cows have gone into the field
- bottle-feeding lambs
- clearing out the shed
- putting new (straw) bedding in the shed for the animals
- going to the farm on the bus
- learning about safety.
A delivery from the JT Project
A Vehicle Maintenance Service is offered at Enable's JT Project, Huthwaite. There, service users can take part in a range of practical activities
- vehicle checks (eg oil, water, tyres, and lights)
- washing vehicles
- polishing and vacuuming interiors
- talking to people
- learning to handle money
- learning about safety.
The JT Project also offers service users opportunities to get involved in occupational and training activities such as gardening, handiwork and goods delivery. Or to work with Occasions Catering, creating buffets for Enable staff and other customers.

Shoestring Plants is based at Matlock/Darley Dale and activities are available there on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. They include
- general activities in two large glasshouses in Matlock
- meeting people
- learning about plants
- watering plants
- sweeping up
- cutting grass and hedges
- creating/maintaining allotments and learning how to grow fruit and vegetables
- clearing gardens, weeding
- general tidying up
- learning to handle money
- learning about safety.

Preparing a buffet at Occasions Catering
Shoestring Smart Car is a car valeting service based at The Medway Centre, Bakewell. Activities are available on Fridays and include
- washing vehicles
- polishing and vacuuming vehicle interiors
- talking to people
- learning to handle money
- learning about safety.
