Service Users' Forum
The Service Users' Forum started life in July 2003, at Enable’s Tibshelf office. Its aim was to get service users more involved in the running of the Enable Housing Association.
At that Tibshelf meeting the ground rules were agreed, and when and where the Forum would take place. It meets every other month and elects its officers once a year. The elected officers are
- Chair
- Vice Chair
- Treasurer
- Secretary
The Service User's Forum has its own rules and has representatives on the EHA Committee.
Mandy is the Forum's elected Chair.

Some of the Forum's achievements
Promoting accessible information
- Meeting minutes are presented in an accessible format - in plain English as well as in symbols
- Leaflets (about emergency repairs, for example, and making complaints) are being produced
- The Forum has also worked with Supporting People to make its leaflet more accessible.
'Learning Disability Today' conference
In 2009 a group of service users attended the 'Learning Disability Today' conference in Manchester. They found it interesting and useful, and met lots of people.
The Forum's aims
- To carry on making information for service users more accessible, including presentations and videos
- To encourage more service users to get involved
- To work more closely with other community groups.
